  motion path on background image

  hi, ok heres the deal, i have created a basic composition 780×420 and created a jpeg with alot of vector art rainbows etc, which i have brought in at 1500x 1500 so the idea is to create a motion that would move through the whole canvas. Now i could do ths manually but i am looking for a way to somehow attach a motion path or guide etc to create the motion so it can follow on a path
  any help would be greatly appreciated

  Did you mean 720×480?

  You can make a motion path from a mask, made in AE (Pen Tool) or imported from Illustrator, PhotoSop or Fireworks, see this:
