July 29, 2012 at 10:53 pmLivetype was discontinued before LION…integrated into Motion. So yeah, they aren’t keeping that app in mind when they make new OS’s
AGAIN…if you have a good, working system, why update? I only update when I am forced to. I mean, I just got LION up and running for Avid MC6…in May.

July 29, 2012 at 11:06 pmI always clone my system drive and update that, then give it a few weeks to see if all is well.
So far so good with ML

July 30, 2012 at 12:53 amIt wasnt integrated into Motion. When Motion came out, it included the libraries from LiveType. But you can’t open a LiveType project with Motion, and there are features in LiveType, like extruded fonts that aren’t in Motion.

July 30, 2012 at 12:03 pmI agree LiveType 2.1 refuses to load on my iMac, but I checked Soundtrack 1.5 and it loaded! I posted a note on Apple Discussions in the Mountain Lion group to see if anyone has any insight into a solution:

July 30, 2012 at 12:19 pmI don’t remember the specifics, but somewhere I read that ML gets rid of some more of the 32-bit legacy library files. LT probably needed these.

July 30, 2012 at 12:49 pmI suspect this was a result of the new ProKit 7.3 in Mountain Lion even though it didn’t break Soundtrack 1.5. Final Cut Express HD 3.5 still works too by the way. I don’t use these any longer but always nice to have them working in case I wanted to revisit old material.

July 30, 2012 at 2:54 pmI upgraded to Mountain Lion and have no problems opening LiveType. I just revised a spot in which I used LiveType’s glow effects on text and it opened fine.

July 31, 2012 at 6:24 pmSince I knew it worked for you, I tried to open it again today but did not elect to reopen the (unopened) window that was saved when I force quit it yesterday. Surprisingly, it came up fine with new windows today. So it must have been a glitch that has affected me and some other people on the first attempt at opening the application but after a shutdown I suppose it corrected itself.
