  • Workflow Question – 1st HD Project and I want to learn from other’s experience instead of trial and error

I’m new to HD but not to After Effects. I need to come up with a new workflow while working with HD because it is so much slower and I know there has to be a more streamlined way to work. I have AE and PP CS3 on PC 3ghz dual processors with 4 gb ram on new computer with vista (btw I hate vista)

I captured HD video from a Canon XH-A1 into Premiere Pro CS3 as MPEG-2 1440 x 1080 23.976 fps progressive. The video was shot in Canon’s pseudo 24p. It is currently in 3gb clips as MPEG-2. It is 75 minutes of video that will be edited into a 12 minute short film that will be shown on tv.

I only want a few short clips pulled into AE so do I first create a rough cut in PP then pull the clips I want into AE? If so, would I export only those clips for AE? If so, would Quicktime no compression be the best way to do it? And then render as QT no compression and replace in PP.

Also, at what point do I change to 29.97 fps? In the original PP rough cut or when exporting out of PP?

    Thanks
