  Perfromance FCP X & Mountain Lion

  Hi,

  Last week I download a trial version of FCP X 10.0.5 on my iMac with Snow Leopard. It crashes very often and ik got green screens.
  Today I donwloaded Mountain Lion, now FCP X, didn’t crash, but I got messages about dropped frames in playback. I’m trying now to export a Video of about 22 minutes… Time remaining was first 8 hours, now 49 hours. I have 6GB of memory and around 4,4Gb is in use, CPU is almost 90% inactive? Is it better to install FCP X again.

  Hi,

  I have uninstalled FCP X, empty the waste basket, shutdown my iMAC. After I started it again and re-installed FCP X it seems now fine. To make a movie in high quality I need now around one hour. Waht I now also see is that the meter (green) in the middle left of the counter, is now showing 100, earlier it was showing a number between 50 and 70.

  I hope it is now better.

  Do you mean my harddrive? That’s the internal HD of my iMac (Fall 2009)

  So your media is on the same drive as your system? You may want to look into external drive dedicated to media files…

  Correction…DEFINITELY wants to get external storage. At least FW800 but eSATA (via express 34 card) would be much better. You never want the media on the same drive as the operating system/NLE software. Editing 101.

  Hi,

  I have connected a FW800 drive, but 21 minutes video still cost around the 60 minutes. Is that normal or can i speed it up with other settings or must i use compressor?
