[Erik Lindahl] “Native RED RAW support is just a wishful dream stil?”

I guess it depends on where you need access to the RAW. Do you need it in the edit?

I have not worked with red raw in FCP because of the limitations, but I have with Color.

This would allow a 4k offline in FCPX (something you can’t do in FCS), an export to RCXPro for R3D reconnect, and then an XML out to Color where you would gain access to the raw.

In theory, from there you could go back to FCP7, or use something like 7toX to convert the XML to FCPXML with media.

Or, you could do a 1080 offline with a one light from RCX, then edit in FCPX, send back to RCX for a 2k or greater conform, send back to FCPX with a RedLogFilm render and finish the grade in FCPX if that’s something of interest.

Or you could send to Creative Suite (Premiere) or Avid with MXF as well.

It basically makes Red a viable workflow with FCPX, and it will be natively supported.

RCX is a pretty great conform tool for the price.

Thanks for the info and workflow ideas Jeremy. Glad RED are still supporting FCP7 and Color as well.
