  Well the Soundbite stuff is a different technology that has a different approach than the technology we put into Premiere Pro. I have a license of Soundbite and will hopefully have some time to give it a try.

  Premiere Pro has three ways to associate dialog with video.
  1 – Adobe’s speech to text engine analyzes the media and gives you the results. Mileage varies based on a lot of factors – it can be really good or really bad.
  2 – You can type up a text file and associate it with the video and then run the speech analyze function and it will turn out very good results.
  3 – You can use Adobe Story and associate the dialog of the script to the clip(s). High quality results.

  Just to add to what Dennis has said, I’ve taken my professionally done transcripts, imported them into Story, and the associated the Story file with the interview file in PrPro. The results have been perfect….play the file and watch the transcript in the metadata panel highlight the words like a bouncing ball. Make a sub-clip and see the transcript of the sub clip highlit or highlight the section of the transcripts and make the sub clip that way. A very elegant feature of PrPro that not many are aware of, inside or outside of the Adobe ecosystem.

  Thanks David – glad to hear that you’re getting good results.

  It is interesting to note, that you can edit via the text in the metadata panel. Mark an in on one word, out on the other. A paper edit of sorts.

  The app is a very good piece on supporting edits. The languages it supports are very specific as they have “spanish for Latin America” and not from Spain. I wonder if they will ever support “Portuguese from Brazil” instead of Portugal, Angola, Macau and etc …. . Does anybody know it ?
