Compressor 4 (Not Responding) everytime I drag setting to a job
Posted by Ricardo Guerreiro on December 5, 2011 at 6:50 amSo, everytime I drag a setting to a a job in Compressor 4 (either to a video sent from FCPX or just oppened directly on Compressor), the application becomes unresponssive or just nothing happens, that is, I drag the setting but nothing appears on the job. Anyone seen this? Solutions? Thanks.

December 5, 2011 at 9:15 amThanks Paul.
This was actually the first time I launched Compressor 4 and I never did anything to the preferences. Still did what you said but to no avail… didn’t fix the problem. -

December 5, 2011 at 8:45 pmI have the exact same snafu as the OP. There doesn’t appear to be any mention of this in the FCPX Techniques forum. Anyway, I use Export Movie (H.264) when Compressor screws up.

December 5, 2011 at 9:40 pmJust had the same issue when doing a few versions of a project for output. I’m mastering everything to Pro Res and then just dragging those files to Compressor. I noticed that it took a few attempts to get the file to “stick”. I simply repeated the task a few times and assumed it was my issue or a sluggish response from a lack of available RAM.

December 7, 2011 at 1:48 pmCompressor 4 has completely stopped working for me and gone on holiday. Seems to be an issue with QMaster. I’ve tried trashing prefs, reinstalling etc, all to no avail.
It really is a piece of garbage…

I’ve just downloaded Compressor 4.04 and am experiencing the same problem with the front end: the spinning beach ball and “Compressor not responding” every time I:
-Drag a setting to a job
-switch between jobsHave you found any improvement or workaround?

August 8, 2012 at 8:39 amTo tell the truh, I stopped using Compressor 4. For the amount of work I was doing, it sufficed to export using Compressor settings through FCPX. So, right now I’m not sure if it somehow is fixed but I never got back to trying it again.

August 9, 2012 at 6:02 pmI gave up and started using Adobe Media Encoder. Then last month, I changed my system hard drive and reloaded all of the software including the operating system and bingo, it was back up and running.
