  Working with audio

  Hey Guys –
  First post here! This site is a great resource – thanks for the info so far.

  I’m new to AE, and am playing around with an audio file (a track from my friend’s latest CD). It is RAM previewing very slowly, and I’m wondering what are some good audio settings for the file imported, or settings within AE to speed this up? I’ve already reimported a mono version at 128, but it didn’t seem to help – the track is about 5 mins long. =(

  I would be fine importing a rough/compressed version of the track to figure out timing and all that, and then importing a good version at the end when I want a final render. Is this a good solution?

  Any suggestions are appreciated!

  i assume you are using an mp3…? use a wav or aiff. ae doesn’t work well with mp3s (or most other compressed audio files).
