text with cilinder fx
hello I asked about this issue once but now the situation is different, i got my text and i applied the cilinder fx cause i need it to go around a hand that is on a picture, I made a mask of the hand and tried in a million different ways to get the text to rotate around it without seeing the back as it rotates but i silmply can’t…can anyone please give any insight on this?
what am i doing wrong?

You can’t just mask the CC Cylindered layer because it will mask both sides of the cylinder. What you need to do is duplicate the text layer, put one of the text layers in front of the hand and set ‘Render’ to ‘Outside.’ Put the other text layer behind the hand layer and set this CC Cylinder’s ‘Render’ to ‘Inside.’
Then you need to make sure that any properties you’re animating for the two text layers are animating at the same time, I would recommend using an expression to make sure they line up.

You need two instances of CC Cylinder, one on top with “Inside” for the Render Property in CC Cylinder (Default is Full, that’s what’s giving you the problem), and one below with “Outside”. So Duplicate your text layer, drop it below your Hand Layer, and give it CC Cylinder with Outside checked.
Now to keep the inside and the outside synced up, in CC Cylinder just expose the Y rotation of each (or what ever rotation you plan to use), then link the lower to the upper with the pickwhip to make an expression. Atl click the Y Rotation Stopwatch of one and pickwhip to the Y Rotation of the other, the first one will control the Y rotation for both.
