  Importing and Transcoding but leaving transcoded media on RAID

  I have my Canon 7D footage on my raid. I want to transcode it using FCPx but then the new transcoded media gets moved to my local drive. Is there a best way to do this using FCPx and keeping transcoded media on the RAID?

  I know I can do what I always have done and use MPEG Streamclip to convert first and then go import meida already converted but I’m just trying to use this new workflow as it is supposed to be used.

  Any help is appreciated.

  Two things:

  Create a new event located somewhere other than your local drive. This way no matter what you do your local drive is left out of the mix.

  Or, uncheck “Copy files to FCP Events folder ” upon import.
