  Deinterlacing again

  This is both an AE and Premiere question. I am going to make a video of my pupils and burn it to DVD. I’d like to make it more film like, so I’d like to have it a cadence of 24 frames per second. I also would like to deinterlace it. Looking at Andrew Kramer tutorial on deinterlacing, it looks pretty much cool. However, there is a check box in Premiere’s media encoder for deinterlacing. Should I just check the box and let Premiere handle the deinterlacing or should I export it to AE, do Andrew’s deinterlacing, and bring it back to Premiere? Is Andrew’s method better than Premiere’s built-in deinterlacing? Thanks a lot.

  hi there – I’m not really sure what Premiere’s de-interlacing is like…. but at a guess I’d think that it would be similar to when you interpret footage in AE with fields, but then render out without fields. So it would be interpolated, but not as cleverly as Magic Bullet or something like that….. it might be worth doing a couple of tests to see which is better.
