Hello: my first post to this forum. I am taking AE 6.0 at a local school in Miami, FL. I have a friend who is helping (tutoring) me. On his computer he uses AE 7.0. On the schools computers they use AE 6.5 ver. The problem, If we do a project (*.aep) on my friends computer using AE 7 and I copy it to a Jump Drive and attempt to open it on the school system, I get a warning dialog that this project was completed on a newer version and cannot be opened in AE 6.5

Is there a work around to this problem? I am very new to AE and enjoy it very much. Please help! Thanks!

Nope. AE has never been able to open newer version files, and unlike Illustrator, it cannot save a file as an older version.

Sorry, your friend should have kept AE 6.5 on his system and done the project in that version of AE, to match the school’s version. If you want to work on the file at school and your friend’s place, it needs to be recreated from scratch in 6.5 on your friend’s system.
