Canon 70D
Hi guys, i have a very bad problem with my Canon 70D
I shoot Beauty Videos with my Canon 70D on Manual Mode and I noticed I have been using Picture Creative Style Settings; Standard 0, Contrast -2, Sharpen 0, Saturation 0, Color tone 0, and my videos looks very flat, I shoot indoors with Custom White Balance using always a Gray Card, and i USE 2 Soft boxes Umbrella lights, and My Makeup videos looks wash out, very flat and dull, so i decided to add a bit of saturation on picture style Saturation 1 and color tone 1 and still my videos are flat, i don’t like to use editing programs to add more color cause i want truth color on camera, Please Help!
What can i do to make my videos the way it look on real light -

Do you use an external monitor to look at the video when you shoot? If not, you should so you can preview what you are really getting and adjust to the monitor.

I only use the viewfinder that came with the cam, it’s looks fine and then results are flat and wash out 🙁

Try an external monitor that is properly calibrated. The built in is not accurate enough. When I shoot with my 5D Mark III with an external, what I see is what I get.

Probably it is not the saturation but the contrast level which is making your videos look flat.
1)Try increasing the contrast from -2 to 0.
2) When you say you are using a grey card, make sure you are using the right kind of grey card for white balance. The 18 percent grey cards are actually used for exposure setting, and many people mistakenly use them to set the white balance. The actual white balance grey cards are almost 80 percent grey (almost white). -
Like others said, a properly calibrated field monitor would help in seeing an accurate image when shooting. I would also recommend that you do some camera test. Have someone model for you and try out different camera settings. I would start with different contrast levels. Be sure to write down you settings and show this in the footage for reference later. A setting of Contrast 0, Sharpen 0, Saturation 0, Color tone 0 is the default and standard picture profile for Canon.
I personally prefer to shoot a Canon Picture Profile at Contrast -4, Sharpen -2, Saturation -2, Color tone 0. Shooting this way allows you to save as much luminance data you can and then you can grade to get the look that you want. Remember, if you are shooting with a high contrast setting, you can’t get that information back (or at least get it back easily).
