  Grainy mid-range shadows

  In reading up on DSLR shooting, I was under the impression that shooting at or below 1600 ISO on my Canon would give me a clean image. I shot this as a test, and noticed that there is a good bit of noise dancing around in the mid-range shadows. (specifically – the shadowy beige walls behind the subject).

  Shot at 1080p, ISO 800. Pulled into Premiere and cut to a short clip, and re-exported to 1080p H.264.

  I have seen lots of other people’s DSLR stuff that is not uniformly lit like a sitcom, but have not noticed this noise.
