    Hello all,
Thanks for all the help that you guys give us all. I am a newbie, and don’t know much about AE-I even find going through the help/manual daunting !!
I know you will laugh about my ” dumb ” questions, which are . .

    1. How do I make closing titles scroll upwards vertically, appearing from the bottom of the screen, and vanishing at the top ?

    2. Can I have little ” thumbnail-size ” pics inbetween some sections of text?

    3. I saw a tv show’s closing titles, somewhere. It had the scrolling text, but also on the left side, there was a filmstrip containing little images in the frames. The filmstrip itself was also scrolling upwards, in unison with the text of the major section of the screen. Is it possible do do something like this ????

Thank you for listening-hopefully someone will take some time out, to help a struggler.

Best regards to you all, from George.

One way to provide the scrolling credits:

    Not the simplest:
Create the credits in PhotoShop as one “tall” file, import into your AE project and
edit the Y position over time – starting with the PS file off of the bottom of the screen.
Not elegant but it would work.

Another suggestion is along the same line – a bit more elegant.
Create a new layer in AE for each element.
Position each layer off screen bottom, set a keyframe, move the layer off screen top set another keyframe.
Adjusting the position of the keyframe in the timeline to control the speed at which the layer scrolls.
Do this for each layer of the credits.
Also try adjusting the opacity to fade in as the credit/text/image gets to the middle of the screen and
fade out as it rolls off screen top.

There are many other ways to get the same effect (rolling credits) but these should get you started.

If you would like some help, I’d be glad to assist – gratis.

    John

If you follow John’s option ‘A’, you would also be able to generate the text as a text layer in AE – this would allow you to easily edit the text without having to go back into PS for a typo… :o)
