    Hi all

I have made a composition with several layers and now want to change the media in one of the layers, but retain all the attributes associated with it.(ie scale position etc)
    Can this be done?

    Thanks

    Scott

    Import your replacement media.

Select it in the project window.

Select the layer you want to replace in the timeline.

    Ctrl + Alt + /

This will swap the layer in the timeline for what you have selected in the project window without affecting any layer attributes.

Or if you have AE 7 you can go to your project window, click on the media, highlight it as it were, then sinply go into the file pull down menue go to replace media and clck there then find the new media and replace it

Not unless you’re using a different keyboard to me, julian06. Just double checked it on my Powerbook.

It’s the / key right next to the fullstop at the bottom of the keyboard.

The / key that Enzo is talking about is the one that is on the same key as your ? key.
