  Importing and using audio tracks

  I’ve been trying to follow this tutorial on the creativecow.net forums to make the supposed volume meter.

  My problem:

  When I import audio I’m able to play it back etc. However AE does not seem to read the file I have imported (.aiff 48khz 16bit (same as project)) as an audio file. When importing it reads “QuickTime Movie” and the QuickTime logo is present beeside the layer in the timeline.

  What I am trying to do is follow the step to “Convert Audio to Keyframes” in Keyframe Assistant. This option is not available to me. Instead AE displays “Convert Expression to Keyframes” in GREY(not available).

  Any help very much appreciated.

  AE is using QT to read the AIFF file. If you open the QT Player and open that file, can the QT player read it?

  If you double-click on the file in AE’s project window, what do you get?

  You may want to convert the file to WAV. It’s possible your AIFF file has some issues.
