  AE Error: Open GL Monitor – Failed to share context monitor color depth 32

  I am getting an After Effects Error: Open GL Monitor – Failed to share context monitor color depth must be 32.

  Thing is My monitors are set to 32 and can’t figure out why compostion won’t play without the above error????

  Go to the preferences and disable OpenGL. It sounds like AE is having a problem with it. (Sometimes it’s necessary to close AE, remove the OpenGL plug-in, and then open your project again.)

  Did this comp work before? Did other comps work? Have you changed anything with the video card lately, like installing new drivers?

  I went into (I think it’s settings) and changed it off of Open GL went back and it still wouldn’t play. Tried playing an old Comp that played last week, wouldn’t play it either. Shut down rebooted still wouldn’t play. Then moved comp window only on to the left monitor and it played.

  Checked both monitors, same card, same settings, didn’t change anything. That is sooo frustrating.

  1. Are you still getting the same error? Have you searched the support knowledgebase on the Adobe site for the error?

  2. Did you try pulling out the OpenGL plug-in altogether?

  3. Have you updated the drivers for the video card?
