    Hi

I have a set -up that can capture and export to broadcast quality.

As such, I wish to avoid going to an external studio to use Avid Symphony to On-Line – can the online be done within After Effects (or Final Cut pro), so i can export a file that is ready –

I assume it is a case of making the colours broadcast legal, and ensuring the sound is also properly formatted and the levels set correctly.

As an extension of this – are there any tutorial or books about setting up and doing an online edit for FCP or AE?

    with thanks for any advice

AE isn’t an editing program, it’s a motion graphics, effects, and compositing application. Although you can accomplish many of the same things as an editing app, you’ll probably get frustrated trying to accomplish them. AE will be good for color correction, certainly, but for what you’re looking at, stick to FCP.

You can edit in AE but it isn’t as easy as in FCP, Premiere, or Avid. You can slip and slide edit as well as trim clips, but you can’t ripple or roll edit. Also, each clip is on its own layer, making for VERY complex compositions.

    Hi

Thanks for this – I’ll head over to the FCP forum.
