Basic Light for shooting interview
Posted by Joao Carlos schwalbach on November 30, 2014 at 3:04 pmHi,
I am looking to buy a set of lights (a set) to shoot interviews indoors.
I want a simple kit. Is LED good for this?
Any recommended kit?
Thank you

December 3, 2014 at 7:23 pmI recently jumped into using LED lights, after years of using ARRI kits and Lowell RIFAs. A good LED kit is pretty pricey. I went with a less pricey IKAN kit that has 3 fixtures that you can control the color temp, so you can use inside or outside. I don’t think they will hold up to heavy road wear and tear but they are good lights. I spent about $2900 for the kit.

December 22, 2014 at 7:13 pmI wouldn’t buy in a kit because more than likely some part of that kit is crappy equipment and not worth your money, even if it does look like you’re saving money (just my personal experience). LEDs are the way to go for sure! Westcott has an awesome LED fixture called the SkyLux (5600K daylight balanced, 50,000 hour bulb life). You can get rapid box light shaping tools. I think one fixture is around $1000. 2 of those, a few rapid boxes, a few flags and a foam core board to bounce light and your set! Maybe even a small cheap LED for a hair light and you’d have a quality 3 point lighting setup.
