Workflow to merge two H.264 files without re-encoding
Hi guys,
I got a 30min H.264 (1080p25, 6.000kbps) movie from my client that needs to have 10 seconds of it changed. These 10 seconds are already edited from the original and are a seperate clip. But how do I put them back to the movie?
Of course I could just make a ProRes 444 from the whole movie, paste the changed clip over it in any editing software and transcode it as H.264 again.
Given the fact that it was converted from H.264, edited and transcoded back to H.264 already once, that’s a quite lossy workflow. Still the only one I could think of.
Or is there a possibility to not touch the encoding of the entire movie expect those 10 seconds? Maybe with VirtualDub?
Any good hint would be appreciated!
Cheers,
Martin
