  DVD created with Premier Pro and Encore from Canon 700D is pixelated

  Hi

  I was wondering if anyone can help solve an issue I am experiencing.

  I am filming with a Canon 700D 1920X1080 30fps

  I input all my footage into Premier Pro CS5.5
  To create a timeline, I right click on a video clip and choose “New sequence from clip”
  I edit the timeline etc and to transfer to Encore I send to Encore via Dynamic Link.
  I am presuming so far so good.
  In encore I do the usual, create menues, build the DVD.
  It is a DVD not Blue Ray.
  The footage looks perfect when played in both Premier and Encore.
  I have the transcode setting to Automatic. I have also tried lower field, upper, none to see if I get different results.

  When the DVD is created and I play it on a TV/DVD combo the footage seems pix elated and is very obvious and terrible on playing cards.

  I am not sure what else I can try. I do not understand what I might be doing wrong as I believe I have followed all the best practices and let Premier and Encore choose the best setting for my Clips.

  Some additional infor.
  – The sequence settings that Premier creates it has the filed to No Fields (Progressive Scan)
  – Pixel Aspect Ratio – Square Pixels 1.0

  For Premiere CS5.5 dont use Dynamic Link when going from HD to SD.
  Encore sets the fields to lower (this was corrected in CS6)
  Export straight from Premiere with a mepeg-dvd preset or set it manually with MRQ on of you do not have CUDA hardware.
  Import the two files into Encore.
  Encoding settings are set to dont transcode.
  Make menu and burn.
  And make sure you have a dvd player with upscaler or BD player when viewing a dvd on a HD tv.

  Thanks Ann. I will miss the Dyniamic Linking. IT will be a headache if I had to o something to the Premier Pro Timeline again.

  Isn’t there a way of re adjusting the fields?

  I never used DL as i find that I have more control over encoding in Premiere than in Encore.
  Anyway in the export settings you can set the fields.

  I did a few tests and it seems changing the field to lower or setting it to Auto had a good export when played on a DVD player that upscales. Importing an exported Premier Pro timeline also worked ok.

  2 queries

  – is it worth upgrading to Premier Pro CC?

  – I watched a DVD from someone else that uses a Canon DSLR and creates NTSC DVDs like me but the quality of the DVD on the DVD player that doesn’t upscale was so much better. I cannot see why this would be the case. Playing cards were not pixelated we’re mine are.
