  Using HDSLR for TV News today and need to down convert

  Hi all,

  I have to shoot some video for UK TV today, using a nikon d7000, my problem is they only work in standard definition (DVPAL) so what Im wondering is, should I shoot in 720p/1080p and then down convert? the SD mode on the cam isnt quite high enough res (640×480 PAL is 720 x 576), what would you recommend doing?

  Im thinking shoot in 720p, wack it into MPEG Streamclip and convert to Quicktime DV PAL?

  The latter (shoot HD and downconvert) if you want to be hired again. 🙂

  Shot in 720p then down converted, Both companies bought the footage and it mixed in really well on tv last night!
  Ive just got into HDSLR after a long time on minidv and a brief spell with HDV, What would ya consider to be basic kit for video work?
