Can a camera be too light for a stabilizer?
Posted by Thomas Meldgaard on May 20, 2011 at 3:58 pmHello
I’m looking at the glidecam HD4000, which is a steadycam rig that supports cameras from 4 to 10 pounds. At the moment my rig is very small, and weighs around or just under four pounds, but I am planning on expanding it, so I want room for that.
Can the camera being too light cause problems with balancing?

May 20, 2011 at 4:51 pmYes and no. You can always add a weight directly beneath your camera to ‘beef it up’, so to speak. Then you’ll also be well-practiced for the time when you use a slightly larger and heavier camera.

May 27, 2011 at 4:44 amI can say from experience that without any accesories, both t2i & t3i are too light for Glidecam HD4000. I mount the Minipro LED light on top of my dslr which helps me balance the glidecam. But i have a vest so its easier for me.
