Transcoding 5D to AppleProRes
Quick question, when using MPEG Streamclip to transcode 5D h.264 files to apple pro res what does the frame rate (usually blank mean). I have tested it blank and then typed it 24 and motion looks the same. I assume its for converting to lower or higher fps and leaving it black to transcodes it as the default you shot it in (whether 24 with the 5D update or 30 non updated.)

You put in the frame rate of your footage.

The camera is not shooting true 24fps, it is 23.976fps or rounded to 23.98 fps.

Rereading my question I realize I did not ask it well. I know the camera shoots at 23.98 and that the Frame box in mpeg streamclip means fps. What I meant to ask is when converting to pro res do i need to bother typing anything in that box? can i leave it blank? i assume that it will just convert to its native frame rate it was shot in if the box is left blank.

I always enter the frame rate of the footage to be converted.
