I’m working as an assistant editor on a foreign reality show that will need to be translated into English. There has not been a foreign cut. This will be the first cut. There are thousands of sound bites and interviews that need to be translated.

I would like to keep the programs to a minimal if possible.

We would like the translators to work within Cat DV so when Searching for footage in CatDV we would be able to see the translation (over the video) and then send that over to Avid or Adobe Premiere CC as a separate track – Is this possible?

If not with Catdv, does anyone have a workflow they can suggest for this enormous translation task.

    Thank you!

You can drop a time coded text file into the Verbatim transcriber. Just format the timecode entries the same way that CatDV does. That way all the code references will carry forward.

Are you talking about doing open captions on the files?

I use Sublime Subtitler to create and lineup (spot) subtitles and open captions and such. I can do everything I need as far as formatting and timing and then export the files in a variety of formats.

Non-linear: all the time and nothing but.
