  • Move files to another disc

    Hi!
    Here is my problem:
I have some master files which is located on a disc in my edit suite. I want to move those file to a new location which is a disc mounted on my ftp server – so its “outside” my edit suite. If I try to select these files in catdv and perform a move command then it tells me that I am trying to move outside a volume boundary.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Greetings

    Hi Henrik,
Apologies for the delay replying. You can move or rename a file or folder within a disk very easily, just by updating the directory information, but to move a file from one disk to another involves physically copying it across, and then deleting it from the old disk. This can take a long time (hours in some cases, depending on how large the files are), plus CatDV is quite reluctant to delete the old files (in case something goes wrong with the copy for example). By default therefore CatDV won’t let you move files across file system boundaries, but you can enable this if you want to via the File System tab of CatDV Preferences.

    Hi Rolf!
Thank you for your response. I found the the tab in preferences – and it works!
