CatDV ‘Copy Media Files…’ making proxies offline
Hi, thanks in advance for any advice you can give…
I’m working with CatDV Pro 9.0.6 and we’re implementing an LTO Tape-based archiving procedure. As part of this, we’ve imported a collection of archived media folders from various external hard drives into CatDV and then used the software to create Proxy media. This process worked perfectly; however, when we then use CatDV to ‘Copy Media Files…’ to our LTO tape and select the ‘Update clips so they refer to new copy’ option, CatDV copies all our media into one folder on the LTO tape, meaning not only that the proxy media is now offline (as it is arranged in the same folder structure as the media on the original volume), but also that any files with the same name as other files in our folder structure (e.g. we have more than one MVI_0001.MOV due to now-redundant filenaming procedures) are not copied across, requiring a laborious process of going through the folder to identify any media which hasn’t copied across and then creating folders to copy it into.
Is there any way of preserving the folder structure when copying across media with CatDV, or relinking to proxy files when they are arranged in a different folder structure? Or just getting CatDV to work a bit more efficiently with this workflow?
Many thanks!
Chris
