Is there a way to have XD Cam footage displayed properly in CAT DV 9.0.6?

The specific codec in question is: “XDCAM EX 1080i60 (35 Mb/s VBR) (1920×1080 29.97fps)”

When I import footage of this codec it shows up like this:

The footage looks perfect in quicktime. And when I export movies out of CatDV or import the from CatDV into FCP it looks perfect. So it’s not the biggest problem, but it is annoying and looks bad when clients are in. Any help advice?

I just found out that when I decrease the window view size to roughly half (or less) the resolution of the footage it is displayed properly. Is this just a weird quirk with the codec and CatDV?

I believe you may have this issue, as laid out in a previous post.

    <>>>>

Correct – from the tests we’ve done here – where the large viewer window in CatDV shows the green/pink plaid over the video:

    1) Only XDCAM EX, XDCAM HD 35 Mb or HDV Interlaced video is affected (these are 420 encoded)

2.) XDCAM HD 50 Mb (progressive or interlaced) is 422 encoded and is not affected .

3.) XDCAM EX, XDCAM HD 35 Mb or HDV Progressive video is not affected.

4.) The issue is only present when either the 2.0 or greater Apple XDCAM Codec is used. If the v1.6 Apple XDCAM Codec is used then everything is fine.

    Hope that helps!

    Cheers,
    Greg

We have a fix for this which will be included in the next release of CatDV
