What do DaVinci Editors use in place of PhotoShop?
OK . I’ll admit it…I’m cheap!
I have the full Adobe package on one computer but on another, I have the single premiere app and I’m using an old version of PhotoShop 6 .0 (which I paid for once – almost 20 years ago).
In dog-years, it’s long dead.
I just got a NEW computer capable of running Da Vinci Resolve. Installing Photoshop 6.0 seems ridiculous .. even for me.
So those of you who are using DaVinci Resolve and have cut the Adobe cord, what are you using for a PhotoShop replacement?
I think it’s down to Corel or Affinity ?? Any preferences or other ideas?
Though I am cheap, I do not mind paying for something. Just not a never-ending blank check.

There’s a very good chance that PhotoShop 6 will not even install on the new OS and if it does it may not even run. Anyway all the guys I know still use PhotoShop. If you’re on a Mac Pixelmator Pro is very reasonably priced.

For me, when Adobe went subscription I mass dumped all their products. The product set I use for images is Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer, and Affinity Publisher. Like all these things, you will need to invest time to re-learn some elements, but I find Affinity very intuitive.
Affinity is UK £48.99 to buy but you can always download a free trial and give it a whirl. It can open and save photoshop files too.

Would it work or not?? Now I’m curious. ☺ But I’d have to dig out my external optical drive…

Do you mean you have a subscription?
That does allow you to have it on two workstations. -
I switched to Affinity. I think it is a good replacement and similar to drive. It even let me install plugins like NIK and open old Photoshop projects perfectly.

My partner uses the subscription every day. I jump in when we need both of us working to bust stuff out. Unfortunately, we are not supposed to use two simultaneously. But I really never tested it.Rhys Ludlow

Even at $10 per month, that’s $120/year. Considering I used my previous version of Photoshop for about 18 years, had I agreed to the same arrangement then, it would have cost me $2160.
I’d rather pay $50 now and be done for a few years.
FYI I drive my cars until they die.
