  14.985 fps footage, 29.987 fps output

  Hi, new to this site.

  I just received some 14.985 fps footage from a client, and I need the output to be 29.987fps. I’m working on a macbook pro with OSX 10.9.5, and working in After Effects CC.

  I looked at some other forum posts about interpreting the footage differently, and tried some different things but couldn’t get anything to work.When I first imported the footage, I got an error message about “overflow converting ratio denominators”, so I did as a tutorial said and rounded the fps up to 15. And then I made the fps in my comp 15 as well. This only slows down the footage, and the audio for it is no longer aligned.

  Does anyone know the best way to handle this frame rate conversion?

  The overflow error is a codec not supported its probably variable fps and vbr audio. Use handbrake to transcode to another codec like QuickTime png.
  You should leave interpret alone at 14.985, drag video into a new sequence at 29.97 right click pixel motion.
  Make sure layer is set to best quality. The pixel motion should optically convert to a smoother frame rate. Export as 29.97. Let us know if this doesn’t work.

  Also since you have fcpx or compressor, they support optical best quality as well.
