  Speed effect or motion effect export

  When exporting shots from a Resolve timeline for VFX (export to OpenEXR) we are sometimes asked to export without the speed applied and sometime with an applied (committed) speed.

  For instance, a clip, originally Arriraw, of 2 sec (48 frames @24fps) in the timeline, which has a 200% speed applied to it, when exported as OpenEXR goes out as 96 frames, so the VFX team gets the original length. This is easy enough in the Deliver page as all speed effects go out as original length. If we specify handles, say 8 frames handles, then those go out correctly too.

  But to export it with speed effect applied, (meaning, in the above example, 48 frames at output) the only method we found that works is to make that clip into a compound clip in the timeline. That works fine, but clips have to be converted to compound clips one by one.

  The problem with this method is providing handles. A compound clip gets exported with speed applied (so 48 frames in this example) but we cannot specify handles.
  So to get around that, we take the clip in the timeline to a higher track, extend head and tail manually by the number of frames handles desired, make that into a compound clip, then trim that back to original length and then export specifying handles. That gives the right number of frames plus handles.

  Making compound clips one at a time manually for a few clips is fine, but when the number of clips goes into hundreds, its quite tedious.
  So, is there a way to do this (export timeline clips with speed applied) without resorting to compound clips?

  The other method would be to export the clip as a “single clip” instead of “individual clips” in the delivery tab. This would avoid the compound clip stage, but you still need to do them 1 by 1, and I’m pretty sure handles disappear when single clip is selected. Single clip will keep what ever speed ramps have been applied on the export.
