    Hi, all.

So, I’ve looked around and haven’t found an answer to this particular problem:
When I create a Quicktime .mov DNxHD36 file in Resolve v10, Avid Media Composer v7.0.2 will not fill in the “Tape” Metadata field from a “Fast Import”. The “Tape” name seems to be in the QT (Using MetaCheater to examine), but it doesn’t seem to be making it into the metadata database in MC.

Yes, I’ve clicked the proper import settings in Resolve, the “Reel name” in Resolve shows the proper naming. In fact, if I use an MXF output, then come in the MC “Back door” with this media, it works fine (and the ALE files I want link up correctly).

I would like this to work via QT & Fast Import, though. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This MIGHT be an Avid issue, rather than a Resolve issue, but I’m sure that one of the 2 Mikes (or someone else, please) might have an answer.

I have a friend trying the file on MC 6.5 tonight & I’ll report if she has a different outcome.

Did you try linking with AMA and Consolidating?

    … And I’ve noticed one other thing….
the REEL info seems to populate properly in FCP7, but NOT in Avid. Weird.
Again, any help? Is this a “Known” issue with Avid?

    Cheers,
    -Gray

Michael Phillips is a better source on this, but as I recall, Avid has never read reel metadata from Quicktime files, regardless of the codec. It didn’t read timecode either for a long time.
