  • A feature from COLOR in DaVinci

    Hi,

Coming from COLOR, I wondered, if there is an equivalent feature in Davinci:
When I finished a grade for a clip and he client e.g. Wants to a a certain feature, let’s say a blue tint.
I could ad that in color in a separate secondary, and then copy only that specific secondary to my other clips in the TL. Is there a similar workflow possible in Davinci?

    Thanx a lot.

Make a node with that tint and then add the node to the other shots you want to have the tint. Via a mem or still.

But if I go about it this way, will the blue tint node be added to the existing node structures of the other clips or does the tint race it then? I look for a way to this specific additional node to the node trees of other clips.
Thanx a lot for the patience to explain this to a COLOR refugee.

You can just copy the node with the tint to your existing node tree.

Not to be an a.s.s but just start reading at page 458 of the Resolve manual. Will tell you everything you need to know to get started with nodes.

And just one more remark in this forum: I did check the manual first, and I do know, that I can copy settings of a specific node, then choose another clip and paste those settings to another septic node, whereas I have to of course ad first a serial node, I can copy that information to.
My question was if there was a similar fast way, like in COLOR, where I can drag and drop any secondary added, to any other clip.
In general I can only find advantages of DaVinci over COLOR, but it seems that in this case COLOR offered a way faster way to do this.

Yeah color had a couple cool things…
You could try groups in resolve, but you need to be pretty well organized. Can be kinda tricky.

    Hi
If you need a tint over the whole movie, you can add a Track node by standing on any clip, switching the menu to Track (upper right corner in the Color Node area), and now you have a node area dedicated to the whole movie, not clip by clip.

I do miss the drag-and-drop function in Color. That may be the only thing I miss. Use the keyboard shortcuts to make it go fast, though. Command+C on the blue tint node, then Options+S (add serial node) and Command+V on the shots that need the change.

I knew I wasn’t he only one ;-). Yes the the copy paste way is what I do know, but needless to say, that it takes waaaaay longer than drag’n’drop.

Toda, itai, but I was aware of that as well. It’s just that I don’t need a node to ad for he whole film, but let’s say there is a certain scene in the film, where all corrections are fine, but he director wants to ad one little detail. In COLOR, you just made a separate secondary, then you dragged and dropped only that secondary to all the clips in question. Something I used very often, and it was incredible fast to work like that. DaVinci I amazing piece of software, but that feature Apple’s grading tool, had the nose ahead.

Is it something that you can do with Append node in Resolve?
Just append to the last node.
