I’m looking to get a GPU card for my Mac Pro to run resolve smoother… smooth at all 😉

Anyone have input on GTX285 vs GTX470 vs GTX480 for a Mac Pro (2008 specifically.)? I have the GT120 as my GUI card.

    Thanks!

480 has to be clocked down to work so just get the 470 its got more cuda cores than the 285.

my point was that maybe you should rethink 2008 machine thing if you can

my point was that in some point 2008 machine itself will limit all you do even if you have
    fast gpu and io etc.

Just the way how data flows inside machine itself will limit a bit all you do.

Yeah. It was all I could afford, so I hope it holds up for low budget 1080p and 2K workflows as best as it can until I can upgrade. Also, maybe by then Windows will be sufficient and I can build a more powerful PC for cheaper.

Really good one will probably not be cheaper.

Maybe you can combine some intermediate version but i doubt that full and fast machine will be cheaper.

See month or 2 ago Robert made post about it and it was around 10 k usd.

Yeah with cubix and ridiculous storage. I won’t need that kind of storage up front.
