January 3, 2012 at 11:40 pmI’ve had a lot of good luck using a Slingbox unit for doing remote offline edit sessions. No software option Ive tried gave me the level of performance and “idiot-proofness” that the Slingbox gave me.
I haven’t tried it for remote grading sessions yet, so I don’t know how accurate it is for judging color, but if all you need is motion preview for window tracking etc, the Slingbox works great because it’s a standalone unit that won’t affect the performance of your workstation when it’s in use.

January 4, 2012 at 5:10 pmDont stream, too much data.
I am doing remote grading session from time to time.
I set up a VPN on the clients laptop/MacPro and Fedex them my dongle.
They send me a copy of their material.
I setup the project , log in via teamviewer and set their Resolve.
Thats it..
From that moment on we are on skype for the session and their machine is doing the grading with me controlling it.
Did two music videos and a doc recently with that technik.A slice of color…

January 6, 2012 at 7:49 pmThanks guys,
I’m thinking that slingbox might be the best way for us. I’ve been looking and it seems that only one person can log on to a slingbox at a time, so we’re thinking about multiple units and attaching them to a video router.

January 6, 2012 at 8:25 pmThis is indeed the downside to using the Slingbox. I would have to believe that there are better hardware based options (or using a dedicated computer) that can accomodate for multiple simultaneous users, though.
For us we’ve never had to stream to multiple destinations at once, so it was a no-brainer to just use a dusty old Slingbox that I had in my closet. The ability to stream to a remote iPhone/iPad via the Slingbox Player app is nice bonus, too.

could your client use Resolve Lite instead of needing a dongle?

April 16, 2012 at 5:14 amI could be wrong, but from what their website says having clients log onto your slingbox doesn’t appear to be a legal use of their product. It certainly seems like the perfect solution to share an edit or color session, especially with the phone apps. How does the slingbox work for you? Can you set up multiple user names and passwords?
What other options exist to share a video/audio feed with a client, or possibly clients?
