Is anyone getting a jitter or unstable playback (fps jumps between 20 to 24 constantly on playback with no leveling out) with 5k Red footage? Its definitely has something to do with the red rocket, as I can add a bunch of nodes and get the same results… Any suggestions are welcome.

You do not say what settings you have your red clips.

Epic stuff i.e. 5 k is hard for machine in full quality.
As you know 5k is more resolution compared to 4 k so it really will bog down regular machine as
    fast as it can.

I’m at Half Res Good, but the problem persists at Quarter Good as well… 10 or 8 bit doesn’t change anything either. Rocket is up to date on firmware too.

Hi Mark, I’m getting the same problem on our Epic project. Its not terrible, but it shouldn’t be jittering at all with a Rocket Card:

Mac Pro 12-core, 32 GB RAM
    OSX 10.6.8
    Resolve 8.1
    Red Rocket
    Cubix
    2 Quadro 4000’s
Running off a Facilis SAN, 8 GB Fiber

    Latest Rocket Firmware and Drivers

    Did you find a solution?

    thanks!

    Hi.

As you see from config guide 32 gig ram is bad.

Also 2x 4000 is relatively weak for 5k anyway.

Look around here people have pointed to new gtx cards that have more computing power than 285.

If you have cubix you can have really hot ones instead of 4000 what you can have as gui gpu.

    Hi,

    A few questions:

    1. What resolution Epic files are you using?
    2. What decode mode are you using – Half Res Prem/Half Res Good?
    3. What Rocket Firmware are you using?

    Regards,
    Rohit
