  • OS X 10.6.8 with Quadro 4000 not working

    Hello everybody

I’ve just updated my MacPro 5,1 to OS X 10.6.8 and now the Quadro 4000 isn’t working anymore. It’s only one monitor working and the one that is working is barely recognized in the system profiler.

I’ve installed the proper CUDA driver as written in the BlackMagic config guide (4.0.19).

Does anybody have a solution to that problem?

    Many thanks,

    Michael

Install the latest cuda-driver and the latest 4000-driver from Nvidias website – then it will work!

Many people seem to think the CUDA driver is all you need for the Nvidia cards. You also need a GPU driver, which is shown on System Prefs page, under CUDA, in the GPU driver listing, just below the CUDA driver listing. For Snow Leopard, the GPU number in the ( ) at the end of the line is the important number. For 10.6.8, you want driver 256.02.25f01. This can be found on the Nvidia Download Drivers web page.

We still recommend using the 4.0.19 CUDA driver.

For Lion, the correct GPU driver will be installed automatically, which is why you won’t find a Lion driver on the Nvidia site.
