  • Remove stuttering from 30fps pull-down to 25fps

Posted by Ola Haldor voll on October 24, 2011 at 12:05 pm

I’ve been encountered with a question; how do I remove stuttering from the 30fps pull-down? We’re working on a 25fps project.

I see Resolve has some pull-down stuff in the config page, but I’ve never really jumped into that world, as I’ve mostly worked on material shot on 24 and 25fps.

If not Resolve specific, at least I think you guys have the knowledge to help me and the editor.

    hi Ola,
shot at 30 and supposed to be 25 ??

that is quite a mistake ..

if the 30fps has been shot as 23.98+pulldown : you can remove the pulldown to bring it back to 23.98 (using cine tools (if the codec is allowed ) ,
than conform it to 25fps (still in cinema tools )

be aware that while the pulldown removal will not change the timing of the clip ,
the second one will , the clip will playback 4% faster (so will be out f sync (also the TC will change ..)

PS:resolve have tools only to add 3:2 on the fly on the SDI as far as i know …(or to remove 3:3 on the fly on the SDI)

Thats kinda what I was raving about in the Scratch list last week.
When the pulldown has happened and you get the media baked, its a hell of a process to reverse it.
    Cadence galore !
