FCP7 Guidelines for before and during Config/conforming?
I am wondering if anyone has had the wherewithall to put together a set of guidelines to check off before you try and conform a project into Resolve. I guess the flip side to this is “best practices” for conforming and troubleshooting a Resolve conform or an FCP7 timeline. Mainly ones that are not outlined in the “Manual”.
For example
1. I have noticed that if I have media that does not have an actual .mov suffix even though it might actually be a ProRes clip that Resolve will not find it per the XML. So I have had to go into the finder and make sure that all the clips have a .mov suffix to them. Unless of course I’m doing something wrong that I am not aware of. etc….
Also please add to this list if you have experienced problem/solution situations so we can make such a list if we think it’s a good idea.

Well, proper data handling is key.
In the good old days editorial companies had assistants employed which worked like house elves , silent, in the background.
I remember countless night where the Flame guy left with some hot blonde and the two assistant started rendering his outputs, piecing stuff together, playing out tapes, reviewed the tapes, made copies of the tapes, shipped them and THEN started to prep the machine for the next day.
So the least we have to do today to survive is keeping the stables clean, and that starts with proper naming, maybe even batch renaming before on-lining a show.
We even tend to make the off-lines ready for clients because they seldom bother to include source time-code or clip names in the image but they go crazy with re-times and PIPs, all the time.A slice of color…
