Anyone succeeding in rendering on a Lion system?

I’ve been getting frame rate dropping to 0fp followed by “Error occured communicating w/ Digital Powerhouse Decoder”, then sometimes getting:
“Unable to communcate with the D. P. Please restart Resolve.”
Or, just flat out kernel panics while rendering RED footage to ProRes HQ or LT. Specs are:

I’ve tried everything from 1/16 res to 1/4 res good. Can’t complete a render of a short timeline with 8 red clips, less than 20 minutes.

New MacPro 5,1: Quad Core 2.8Ghz – came with Lion installed
Also tried OS 10.7.1 (upgraded yesterday)
    Nvidia GTX 285 GPU
    Nvidia GT 120 GUI
    BMD Decklink SDI
    24 Gb RAM
    eSata raid 0 array
Nvidia CUDA driver 4.0.16 or 4.0.50 (tried both)
    Davinci 8.0.1

Or if anyone has a similar system with Snow Leopard working, let me know. I’m planning to try another boot drive with 10.6.

    Thanks,
    David D

    I am running 8.0.1 on 10.7.1 with a 470GTX and just finished a documentary…rendering SD only , but with 150 fps.
I ve seen those messages only when working on old projects I imported from 7.1
Your setup sounds good, could you publish the project ?
I will just replace your Red clips with some I have and see if the same errors come up , if you like.

I have a more similar set-up than Sacha perhaps, Resolve 8.0.1 Lion 10.7.1 with a GTX285, GT120, and this week I’ve been working with mostly 2:1 4K and 4.5K RED footage. I’ve had a few problems with the upgrade to Lion; in the end I stepped back to CUDA driver 4.0.17 (.19 wasn’t being found by resolve).

I’ve had a couple of those errors – rendering to ProRes4444 I had the frame rate drop to zero and I got an error along the lines of “timeout occurred on frame 4” and I’ve also seen the “Error occured communicating w/ Digital Powerhouse Decoder” but that one I got occasionally on 10.6. But I didn’t get those errors as often as you (maybe once on 7 short renders, and none on a big DPX render today).

It could be unrelated, but I changed a lot of the power saving settings in Lion (it’s pretty aggressive in sleeping hard disks and such) and I saw improvements in Resolve’s responsiveness…

    I removed the AppleDisplayPowerManagement.kext completely.
    Also i am on CUDA 4.0.50 now…
17 was giving me nothing but lemons, and I prefer beer over lemonade 🙂

Anyone with a Dual Quadro 4000 with MacOSx 10.6.8 and the latest CUDA 4.0.50?
