  • after update to Lion 10.7 ……..problems

Posted by Paul Mitchell on July 27, 2011 at 4:11 am

    hi there

I updated to Lion OSX 10.7 and on restart I get Cuda Preferences showing up “Cuda version 4.0.17″ update required”, but install cuda update button is greyed out, so can’t update

after Resolve program launch I get “failed to initialized digital powerhouse with the configured number of decoders” but the program does start, right now just checking, not rendering nor creating new projects, just opening old ones

I’m running 3 x GTX 285 inside Cubix desktop4 plus Red Rocket, all seem fine under system profiler, all recognized as before in Snow Leopard

    any help please highly appreciated

    Thanks

Go to the Nvidia Drivers Download site. Select Nvidia CUDA Driver for Mac from the Drivers list. Download and install the 4.0.19 CUDA driver.

If you had Resolve installed before you installed Lion, reinstall Resolve, and the Digital Powerhouse error message should go away.

    Hi Dwaine

thanks for the help, did as you suggested and it all works, still get nvidia cud a preference asking to update, but Resolve seems happy

    thanks

I should mention that after Lion update all 12 cores are running with equal processing when running Resolve and most apps, overall everything appears snappier

    What about CUDA 4.0.21 ?
Seems to be the actual one in the downloads.
And mine updated itself to that too.

When I go to the Nvidia Download Drivers site, and select CUDA for Mac drivers, 4.0.19 is the latest one listed.

On my Mac, in the System Prefs area, if I click CUDA, I have 4.0.19 loaded, and a red “Update Required” message. But right above that, it says “no newer CUDA driver available”

So I’m not sure how anyone is getting the 4.0.21 driver. I know others have reported having it installed.

Our development team is still recommending using 4.0.19. Maybe 4.0.21 works as well.

.21 is in the developers SDK, not (yet) out for general use but seems to work stable.

    Resolve system:
    MacPro 8 core 2010 – 16B memory
9TB harddisk (1 system disk, 8TB in software raid 0 for data)
    Nvidea GTX285
    Nvidea GT120
    Blackmagic SDI Decklink
    RedRocketcard.
    Tangent Wave panel
    Transvideo 15″ Cinemontor Evolution

Also running it on a MacBook Pro 17″ (5.2)
    160gb SSD and 750gb HD
    8gb mem

Is there any reason TO update to Lion on a work computer? Are there any performance gains now or suspected in the future, for Resolve, or other video tools?
