  UltraStudio 3D support?

  Can anyone confirm whether or not the new UltraStudio 3D with Thunderbolt will be compatible with Resolve as an HDSDI output for a grading monitor?

  The answer is yes as it has been demonstrated at NAB 2011 and the recent Broadcast Asia 2011 with both MacBook Pro and iMac with Thunderbolt.

  In fact it can even do dual-SDI 3D monitoring as well with Resolve. There are HDMI output port to connect to a LCD TV and you should be able to output a side-by-side or full frame packed output from Resolve via HDMI to a 3D LCD TV.

  but bmd seem to be implementing it for imac/mbp use of resolve. why not for mac pro? new hardware spec for v8 still stipulates pci decklink card. it would be great to do away with as many pci devices as possible to open up more slots for gpu cards – tbolt storage and video i/o cards would be great.

  Well the reason is simply because there’s no Thunderbolt on the Mac Pro yet. When there is Thunderbolt for Mac Pro, be it in a form of a PCIe card or a new Mac Pro series, I would say the Ultrastudio 3D will work with it like the MBP and iMac.

  Yes, we want UltraStudio 3D to work with Resolve on any certified model of Mac with Thunderbolt.

  hi,

  I just tried a Ultrastudio 3D on a early-2011 macbook pro with Resolve Lite 8.2beta2, and:
  – when I plugged the ultrastudio it did a software update
  – the blackmagic desktop video 9.0 (latest driver downloaded) could see the card, I could configure it
  – Resolve could see the card in the preferences (to select capture card)
  – but no image in “deck” tab, ever

  The hdsdi signal was from an Epic, 1080p25 10bit, checked on a monitor. I tried all config options in “config tab”, including “1080p25”, “1080psf25” (RED does specify it’s 1080p and not PSF, but I tried it anyway)

  The guy at the renting company had the same experience with another card: Ultrastudio 3D detected, he could make it work with Media Express, but not with Resolve (full version).

  anyone tried that? is ultrastudio 3D support “coming soon” or is there a trick?
