  grading a DV 4/3 project in davinci resolve.

  I have trouble in getting something right in a DV 4/3 project. The aspect ratio is not quite right
  and the picture seems blurry. Is there a way to configure DaVinci to work without big loose on this type of material ?

  Config : Mac Pro 2010, 12×2,4Ghz, 32Go Ram, 3xFX4000,GT120, Decklink 3D+, RED Rocket, system on Crucial SSD 250, RAID FC 8gb Lacie 24To, CYCLONE PCI expander, Resolve 7.1

  HI.

  Is the picture blurry on prev. window or on external output ?

  What is your timeline settings ?

  Also if you try to look SD picture on huge hd panel that gives you the softness when picture is scaled a lot.

  in the case it is interlaced,
  you got to enable both fields in the settings ->
  else the picture might seem blurry because you are using half of the resolution.

  Yes, that what I did,

  but I think I have an other issue to solve : my pixel aspect ratio is not square but ‘DV’ which I think is 5/4.Do you think I can change that somewhere.

  And when I output in PAL the image is a bit distorted in comparison with the original DV footage

  cant you change the aspect ration at the timeline format?

  the options should be:
  square pixel
  16:9 anamorphic
  4:3 standard def
  cinemascope

  and:
  have you tried the input scaling options at the same config screen?
  (project settings)
