Wirecast Purchase
Posted by Joseph Wilkins on January 7, 2014 at 12:24 amI have a Canon c100, a Sony EX1 and a Panasonic HVX200.
I have been asked by a client to livestream a TWO-camera live event.
I am thinking about signing up for ustream… which of these two cameras will work with wire cast, and can someone please explain how I get the inputs recognized by the ustream prodicer software?
Thanks!!

January 7, 2014 at 1:16 amAll three should work. The caveat is that Wirecast/Ustream Producer does not support DVCProHD so the other two cameras would be easier to use.

It depends on your hardware. You’d have to list your complete computer specs including inputs. The free Ustream Producer only uses one input. You’d want Ustream Producer Pro for multiple cameras. Otherwise Wirecast Studio which works with Ustream as well as other services.

January 7, 2014 at 2:05 amThanks… So the ex1 and c100 would be best?
Hardware I have:
New 15″ retina MacBook Pro
I also have a matrix mx02 Le
Not sure about all this capture card stuff… Will that matrix work? Or do I need to buy thunderbolt cards?

Yes as HDMI and/or SDI gives you the best HD quality source.
MXO2 would work for one camera.
You could get Blackmagic Ultrastudio MiniRecorder for the other.
I’m not sure if the two drivers will play well together otherwise you can use two MiniRecorders. They’re only about $140 each. Telestream will be testing them but they do work.I have both the MiniRecorder and MXO2. The MXO2 needs the Thunderbolt adaptor… which does cost more than a MiniRecorder.
Also not tested by Telestream but Magewell has a driverless HDMI or SDI to USB3 device which I’ve seen running on Mac with Wirecast.

January 7, 2014 at 2:41 amGreat… Thanks.
What about audio? Will the black magic pass that in too?
Can you please tell me the model you would recommend I buy two of?
Thanks a million for your help!

January 7, 2014 at 2:43 amAll these pass audio as well from the camera.
Blackmagic drivers are designed to handle multiple devices so two MiniRecorders would be good, inexpensive and reliable. You might want to read this interesting blog post on using 3 HD cameras with Wirecast on MBPRetina.
