graphic overlays needed for sports webcast
Posted by Kim Gwydir on June 19, 2010 at 9:44 pmHello-
I am trying to put together live webcasts for sporting events – I have used livestreams free service and now I want to upgrade to 2 cameras and make it look more professional. I also need to have ESPN style graphic overlays for the score to show – tricaster uses a package called livetext I think but I dont want to spend that much money. Any ideas for finding graphic overlays to use with wirecast like this?
Thanks in advance

June 20, 2010 at 1:06 amI got the links to work – the graphics and the video look great!! The quality looks better than what I get on livestream – I had not tried JustinTV – why did you choose them?

June 20, 2010 at 1:22 amGotham Girls use Rinxter

Free to any Roller Derby league.
They say they’re willing to customize for pay though. They might be willing to do it for other sports.I can find out about the others. There’s lots of custom packages around apparently.

June 20, 2010 at 1:24 amIt’s funny but when I asked Gotham Girls they couldn’t give me an definitive answer. I suspect they can send higher data rate than Livestream. Livestream limits it to 500kbps.

June 20, 2010 at 2:40 amThanks for all the input – I also have a macbook pro – 2.4 Ghz intel core 2 duo – i use it mostly for editing and us the PC for the livestreaming – I am going to assume I can add another firewire port – and yes for sure they higher than 500 kbs – looks way better – i will look into the extender for the firewire – last question (for now 🙂 – how long can you extend fire wire with repeater before it degrades?
Thanks – I have learned more tonight than in the last 2 weeks.

Not all MacBook Pros have an Express port needed to add firewire port. 2008 15″ and 17″ have the port. Mid 2009 forward only 17″ has the Express port.[Kim Gwydir] “how long can you extend fire wire with repeater before it degrades? “
Every 33′ you’d need to use one. Apparently you can do this up to 250′

June 20, 2010 at 3:02 amHow can i tell if i have the express port? when I look at “about this mac” what do I look for?
And if you have any leads about the scoreboard graphics that would be great – I email the group that does the roller derby ones

June 20, 2010 at 3:11 amThis is a picture of the newest MacBook Pros. See the bottom one. The Express slot has a covered slot.
This is the MacBook Pro tech spec page. You can see the models listed below.
https://support.apple.com/specs/#portablecomputersGenerally if you bought a new 15″ or 17″ in 2008 and into early 2009 it has the port.
In mid 2009 they dropped it from the 15″
Just look at the side of your laptop.
