  Gaussian blur in After Effects from a still that shows depth of field

  Hi CC,

  I was wondering if it is possible to use an image that is a rendering of the depth of field in a virtual space and use it to create an adjustment layer in After Effects so one could recreate the blur gradient based on the image data. For example, in the image where it is whitest is where there should be no blur and where it is darkest, the most blur.

  Any advice or tips will be greatly appreciated!

  I believe you’re looking for the Camera Lens Blur effect.
