  photo distortions appear when going to print

  i use illustrator 7 and i make print ads using jpegs that i take with my own camera. then i use illustrator fonts for ad copy, and when i’m happy with the results i rasterize (at 300dpi) the whole thing (never larger than letter size).

  when i have sent these illustrator files, either in pdf, eps, or jpeg, to the newspaper or other printer the text is clear but the photo has dashes, dots and other distortions.

  everything looks crystal clear on my computer. what am i doing wrong?

  Do not use JPEG, use TIFF, and because it’s going to print, make sure your image is CMYK from Photoshop. Do not rasterize your image, go to the link panel and embed the image into your file, then save it as a Press Ready PDF.
