    Hi All,

My printer wants me to use a spot lay for a metallic color (PMS 876C). I’m not too familiar with Illustrator and I was instructed to put the copper in the black layer in Ps then import in Ai and spot color it.
How do I go about doing this?

    Thanks,
    JP

You need to create an object with the exact shape you need to cover with metallic ink in Illustrator and paint it black or whatever color, in fact you can load Pantone metallic inks in the swatches palette, which is actually advised, that way when you output your file, Illustrator will automatically create a separate plate for any additional ink besides the usual 4.
