2GB vector file! How do I shrink the file size?
I made an 86×32″ banner in AI and then saved it as an .eps… and it was 2GB!!! It does have a large JPG photograph on part of it, and lots of gradients… but stil, 2GB seems like an awful lot.
I deleted all unused objects and layers, make text to outline. I scaled it down until it was 14″ high… still 2GB.
Any help would be much appreciated! -

Since your file size remained the same after scaling, I am guessing that the raster images (jpg, gif, tif, psd, etc…) are your culprits.
You first need to get in touch with the printer. Find out what resolution your files need to be for the size you are printing. This will be dependant on the type of printing the printer is doing AND the distance at which your final piece will be viewed.
Once you have those answered, you will need to resize your rasters in photoshop for the correct resolution.
ps – make sure to mention the gradients. they can sometimes need twice as much resolution as your other graphics to reduce banding.
